Brooches
Home

I chose the format of the brooch for this body of work as it affords a miniature canvas where I may perform in a way similar to an artist who paints. Threaded through each piece is the theme of water. Utilizing the technique of roller printing, I have experimented with creating textures to suggest the surface of the ocean.

Each piece was designed and made with a freely spontaneous approach in the hope of liberating the rigid qualities of the metals. Although my intention was to challenge myself to have the metalwork speak strongly, I selected gemstones and pearls to represent the sun, moon, clouds and light reflected off water.
